Hundreds of thousands more follow our progress in the media. We have opened <br />the 5-year review and the AOP process to the public. As I said at the outset, <br />we and the public have to come to a better understanding of how they will <br />interact in the operating planning process. Significant efforts must be made <br />to educate the public, but perhaps only after some self-examination by <br />ourselves to anticipate public desires <br />Nothing of any significance is done anymore without NEPA compliance, <br />which, of course, is a completely open process. In our region alone, we have <br />devoted significant time and money to train our staff in the public <br />involvement process to insure that all interested parties can participate to <br />the fullest extent possible. <br />So...what are we to make of our "Showdown on the Colorado <br />hope that we all join in a commitment to seek resolution... not <br />hope that next year, the banquet speaker is privileged to speak <br />"Fruitful Negotiation on the Colorado River."
