<br />Chapter TI <br />WATER DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL <br />3 <br />The Rocky Mountain Power Company has applied to the Federal <br />• Power Commission fora license to develop and operate one or more hydro- <br />electric power plants on the Sweetwater Creek, This application, if <br />approved, will most likely be amended and modified somewhat from present <br />plans which involve: <br />1, A 260 foot high dam to impound a fluctuating level res- <br />ervoir on the South Fork of the White River meadows just above Budge's <br />Resort. Water from Wagonwheel Creek and Patterson Creek may be diverted <br />into the reservoir. The reservoir, to be known as Meadows Reservoir, <br />_ would have a capacity of approximately 99,000 acre feet and a surface <br />- area of about 870 acres (Figure 1), <br />• 2. A diversion from Meadows Reservoir to the Sweetwater drain- <br />age by way of 7-foot-diameter, 4 mile long Plateau Tunnel. <br />3, Awater-collection system involving Sweetwater Creek, Tur- <br />ret Creek and other tributaries. <br />4, Probable future collections from the Derby Creeks and East <br />Fork of Red Dirt Creek, <br />5, A power plant near Sweetwater Lake. <br />6, Acrass-country conduit from Sweetwater Lake to Dotsero at <br />the junction of the Eagle and Colorado Rivers. <br />_ 7. A power plant near Dotsero. <br />• 8. A forebay above Sweetwater Lake into which water may be <br />• pumped during periods of law power demand, and from which water may be <br />released to meet peak power requirements, <br />9.
