Colorado River Storage Project reservoirs to benefit the
endangered-fish species in the river.
Great Plains Region:
1. Shoshone River, Wyoming - an agreement to provide
increased minimum fishery flows in the Shoshone River
below Buffalo Bill Dam while meeting water requirements
for irrigation, municipal use, and power generation.
2. Miracle Mile, North Platte River, Wyoming - irrigation
water is moved from Seminoe Reservoir to Pathfinder
Reservoir to provide a minimum streamflow of 500 cfs in a
six-mile reach of the North Platte River below Kortes Dam.
The water is then available for irrigation use downstream.
3. Gray Reef Dam Releases, North Platte River, Wyoming
- a minimum streamflow of 300 cfs is provided as a release
at Gray Reef Reservoir to maintain a 32-mile stretch of the
North Platte River. That water is then stored in Glendo
Reservoir for release as needed to meet contracted irrigation
and power -generation needs.
4. Glendo Dam Low-Flow Outlet Stream Augmentation,
North Platte River - a new outlet works is being constructed
at Glendo Dam, which will allow for an average release of
25 cfs during the non-irrigation season. This release of
water will help re-establish the fishery below Glendo Dam,
will be stored in Guernsey Reservoir, and will be used for
irrigation during the following irrigation season.
5. Blue River, Colorado - a system has been formulated
that allows Dillon Reservoir releases to the Blue River to
maintain a minimum year-round flow, gives the Denver
Water Board credit for those releases toward satisfying the
senior storage rights in Green Mountain Reservoir, and
maintains the Blue River fishery.
6. Bighorn River, Montana - a study is under way on the
Bighorn River and Yellowtail Afterbay Dam to evaluate
methods to improve the quality of releases by eliminating
the supersaturation of nitrogen gas.
16
