aY

the Green and Colorado Rivers are planned for the spring, summer and
fall of 1980.
Disease organisms will be identified by qualified pathologists and
catologued by Fort Morgan. A list of pathogens will be developed for
each species of fish examined. Observations as to the conditon and
effects on individual fish will be recorded.
Several fish have been shipped to Fort Morgan and are being examined.
The first field trip is scheduled for May 26, 1980 to the Walter Walker
Wildlife area in the vicinity of Grand Junction, Colorado.
FIELD INVESTIGATION METHODS
The field investigations are concentrating on determining the distribution,
habitat and life histories of the target species in their natural habitat.
The study area includes the Green River from Split Mountain downstream
to its confluence with the Colorado River; the Colorado River from
Debeque, Colorado, downstream to the headwaters of Lake Powell and the
Gunnison River from Dominquez, Colorado downstream to its confluence
with the Colorado River (Figure 1).
Field teams were established at Vernal, Utah and Grand Junction, Colorado.
The Vernal station conducts studies on the Green River while the Grand
Junction station works on the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers. The Vernal
station is staffed with three permanent and four temporary personnel;
the Grand Junction station with two permanent and two temporaries.
