39.
Site specific flow recommendations.
o Qualitative flow recommendations have been developed for the Yampa River..
Tyus and Karp (1989) presented flow needs for all four of the rare fishes
for the Yampa River. Needs were outlined by life stage, river location,
and season, (Table 3).
o Quantitative flow recommendations have been developed for selected critical
reaches in the Colorado and Green Rivers.
Miller et al. (1982c, d) presented flow recommendation windows for
Colorado squawfish and humpback chub at four Colorado River and two
Green River sites (Table 4). Season and life stage needs were
addressed.
Larval Survival
Colorado squawfish.
o Historic summer and fall flow regimes are important to survival of Colorado
squawfish larvae.
Holden (1980a) reported that altering summer flows may cause a loss of
-larval rearing habitat.
Haynes et al. (1984) reported modification of historic seasonal flow
regimes to be probable limiting factor for survival of Colorado squawfish
larvae.
n
0
