Endangered Fish Captured

A total of 3 Colorado s~Jawfish and 1 humpback chub were captured during
trip no. 2 (Table 3). The squawfish comprised of 3 juveniles (one 1986 year
class, one 1985 year class, and one older). The squawfish were 117, 175, and
237 rom TL. The humpback chub ,~s an adult female; TL = 270 rnm, weight = 155 g.
Photographs and pertinent meristics were taken and are recorded in Table 5.

This adult female humpback chub was in excellent condition with slight
rose coloration on her paired fins. She showed no evidence of tuberculation,
and we were unable to express eggs with slight to moderate pressure. The fish
was captured on April 14, 1988, at RM 207.3, when the daily water temperature
ranged from 56 to 58 F (13.3 to 14.4 C). This fish was just beginning to show
signs of reproductive condition. She was captured in a region in which several
humpback chub have been captured during the two years of this investigation.
