(1) At the beginning of each month, estimate the end-of-
month contents for each reservoir. on the first
iteration, use the target content; on later iterations,
use the interim computations to refine the estimate.
Use the mean of the beginning and ending contents to
determine evaporation, surface elevation and seepage.
(2) Introduce the runoff and/or local flow, and all return
flows delayed from previous months; allow the water to
run freely to the end of the basin.
(3) Sort the natural right diversions by priority date, and
work through the list attempting to satisfy the
requirements. Return flows (natural) are available to
- satisfy earlier diversions which may be short.
(4) Sort the project right requirements by priority date,
and work through the list attempting to satisfy them.
First, attempt to divert project flow, then attempt to
divert natural flow, then attempt to release water from
control reservoirs. Return flows are available to
satisfy earlier project requirements which may be short.
Reservoir releases for IFR's and power are available for
diversion as soon as they have served the purpose for
which they were released.
(5) Attempt to release any excess water (above maximum
content) from the reservoirs. If there is any release,
and if there are any unsatisfied project demands, go
back to step (4).
(6) Attempt to collect any surplus water (up to maximum
content) in the reservoirs.
(7) Perform the pool maintenance routine. If this results
in any releases, and if there are any unsatisfied
project demands, then try to use the releases to satisfy
the shortages.
(8) Examine the end-of-month content at each reservoir. If
the mean content of each reservoir is within 4 acre-feet
of the initial estimate, the month is done; otherwise go
back to step (1) and repeat the process.
19
