-9- <br />D I1 1Tt 1BUT1 ON <br />Lila cv ha was first described in 194A by U-11. Miller 0:409- <br />415). The fish was discovered in the Colorado }diver, Crand Canyon, <br />Arizona. Since then only small populations have been noted there. <br />Besides the encouraging find below Grand Junction the most recent <br />significant verified discovery was by Holden (4:21) in Fr-ho Park <br />on the lower Yampa and Green River in 1969. Taenty-six fich were <br />collected, the majority from one eddy. H(-cent efforts to collect <br />fish there by George Kidd have been unsuccessful (personal conver- <br />sation with Dr. Behnke). See Figure IV for recent finds. <br />Historical ' alvtri`'•' ...,?+•i on of Gila nyrha is not known but most <br />- likely the fish was limited to large river, canyon areas of the <br />Colorado basin from Hoover Dam, Arizona (6:97-99) to Green River, <br />Wyoming (Flaming Gorge area) (7:163). <br />T
