• ~ . ~ ~ 25 <br />Appendix A <br />Walter 6Jal I;er Wi 1 dl i fe Area <br />April 1, 1975 to April 11, 1975 <br /> <br />The majority of the sampling was done using six foot deep trammel <br />nets, with a small mesh size of one inch square and large mesh size <br />of ten inches .square. Four nets were used ~,rith lengths of 93 meters, <br />40 meters, 18 meters, and 26 meters. Sampling was done only during <br />daylight hours from April 2 until~April 6. From the 6th until the <br />9th sampling vrus done'on a 24 hour basis. - <br />On April 1 seven seine hauls-were made using a 1,00 foot bag seine <br />with 1 inch mesh. 1 Colorado squawfish, 1 carp, and 1 roundtail chub <br />were taken in this ,manner. . <br />On April 10 the Colorado River was electrofished from Grand Junction <br />to the Walker IrJildlife Area. The-fish collected were sacrificed for <br />age, growth, maturity, and fecundity information, and are listed below. <br />Flannel mouth suckers, Gatostomus latipinnis <br />mature females 46 <br />mature-males 50 <br />immature fish 31 <br />Bluehead suckers, Gatostomus discobolus <br />mature females 36 <br />mature males 53 <br />immature fish 20 <br />Flannelmouth suckers were also sacrificed from the wildlife area. <br />mature females 3 <br />mature males 4 <br />immature fish 23 <br />
