<br />Block Notice Number one was issued on May 31,1989, covering all <br />municipal and industrial water use. The notice involves 28,100 acre feet <br />of water. Repayment on that notice began in 1990. <br /> <br />c. Dolores Project <br />Construction of the Pleasant View - Ruin Canyon - Hovenweep <br />pumping plants and laterals was completed in 1990. <br /> <br />Construction of Dove Creek Canal, Reach three is substantially <br />complete. <br /> <br />A $19.3 million contract for the construction of Reach one of the <br />Towaoc Canal was awarded on September 11, 1989. It will include <br />construction of approximately 8.8 miles of canal with an additional 2.7 <br />miles of pipe laterals. Construction is scheduled for completion in April <br />of 1992. <br /> <br />A $14.5 million contract for construction ofT owaoc Canal Reach two <br />was awarded on July 24,1990. Work includes construction of appro xi- <br />mately 11.2 miles of canal with associated control and delivery features. <br />Construction will be completed by January of 1993. <br /> <br />The Towaoc Canal is designed to serve the Ute Mountain Ute Indian <br />tribal lands southwest of Cortez, Colorado, along with the Montezuma <br />Valley Irrigation Company, The canal also will help to reduce salinity by <br />replacing the existing Lower Hermana Lateral, the Highline Ditch and <br />the Rocky Ford Ditch, The canal will be constructed in three reaches. <br /> <br />A $5.9 million contract to install the turbine and generator of the <br />Towaoc Powerplant was awarded on May 3, 1989. The contract calls for <br />complete installation and testing of the power plant equipment by June <br />of 1992. A $14.4 million contract was awarded on September 6, 1990 for <br />construction of the power plant building and penstock. Towaoc <br />Powerplant will have an installed capacity of 11.4 MW and will generate <br />an estimated 30,300,000 kilowatt-hours during each irrigation season from <br />April to October. Power will be used for irrigation pumping on the Dolores <br />Project. Any excess power will be combined with other CRSP power to <br />be marketed by the Western Area Power Administration. <br /> <br />A $2.6 million construction contract for the McPhee Dam Powerplant <br />was awarded on May 29,1990, with completion scheduled in 1992. The <br />plant will have a capacity of 1.35 MW. <br /> <br />43 <br />
