Staff includes two nongame <br />biologists with emphasis on federally recognized <br />endangered and threatened species. Has authority <br />to establish programs for management and preserva- <br />tion of all wildlife. <br /> <br />CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />Bas statutory authority to protect and manage <br />endangered, threatened, and rare species; has <br />entered into cooperative agreement with the U.S. <br />Fish and Wildlife Service. Has three full-time <br />wildlife biologists and two full-time fishery <br />biologists; expects to increase staff and expand <br />program as grant-in-aid money is received in 1977. <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />COLORADO <br /> <br />Bas the statutory authority to protect and manage <br />endangered and nongame species granted by S.B.142, <br />effective July, 1973. Colorado has an active pro- <br />gram for birds, mammals, aquatics, and raptors <br />carried on by five nongame biologists and one rap- <br />tor specialist. Also has publications and an <br />active educational program. Reintroduction of en- <br />demic species is part of the program. <br /> <br />NEVADA <br /> <br />Some money is available for nongame species, and the <br />priorities have been birds and mammals, especially <br />raptors and predatory mammals. Has statutory author- <br />ity for protection of all species of wildlife. <br />Presently has two nongame biologists employed by the <br />Department of Fish & Game. <br /> <br />NEW MEXICO <br /> <br />Reports money and authority available for management <br />of threatened, protected, and nongame animals. <br />Established Endangered Species Program in 1974, with <br />four biologists.
