HISTORY <br />Paper presented Western Division Meeting, COLORADO R. <br />American Fisheries Society, July 1976, Sun 1, 2, 3, 4 <br />Valley, Idaho. <br />Paper summarizes present knowledge on the rare <br />fishes of the Colorado River basin. It includes <br />reasons for decline and the recovery efforts <br />underway. Consideration was given to 20 species <br />of the fish, including the Colorado squawfish, <br />bonytail chub, humpback chub and razorback <br />sucker. Paper presents a hypothesis concerning <br />the events leading to the hybridization of Gila <br />cypha with other chubs, indicating the hybridi- <br />zation occured before man-made alterations. <br />206. The book is designed for the fisherman <br />and gives basic descriptions, distributions, <br />habits, notes on edibility and relationships to <br />other fish.
