The wild <br />rose, Rosa nutkana, was very prevalent in the area but was restricted to <br />some 30 yards from the stream bank. <br />Predominant grasses in the area were: western bluestem, Agropyron smithii; <br />squirreltail barley, Hardeum jubatum; and Kentucky bluegrass, Poa pratensis. <br />Other plants in the immediate vicinity of the stream were: goosegrass, <br />Potentilla anserina; and sloughgrass, Beckmannia sycigachne. The spike rush, <br />- Eleocharis palustris, was found growing along the stream bank and out into <br />the water at depths of 6 inches. <br />The only aquatic plant present at the sampling site was the common pond- <br />weed, Potamogeton pectinatus. Some true moss sp, was found in the riffle <br />area. <br /> <br />
