Flaming Gorge Reservoir
1964 to 1966

ABSTRACT
Bottom fauna data were collected at Flaming Gorge Reservoir in
1964, 1965 and 1966 from three major areas; canyon, open and inflow.
Data from 1966 were most detailed; sampling in other years was
restricted by equipment and time limitations.
Most productive depths as indicated by number of organisms per
square foot was 10 feet followed by the 25-foot and one-to-two-foot
ranges. Production at the one-to-two-foot depth was limited by wave
action. More organisms were generally found in the canyon area.
Chironomids and amphipods were most common in the samples.
All data are reported in English units following early project
structure.
INTRODUCTION
Information on the benthic community of Flaming Gorge Reservoir
was collected during the period 1964 through 1966. This study was
conducted in partial fulfillment of requirements of the Flaming Gorge
