-20-
~ habitat in Slater Creek. In addition, the operating plan for Pot
Hook Reservoir does not include a bypass flow to maintain a live
stream in the 1 mile of Slater Creek between the dam and its
~ confluence with the Little Snake River.
The reaches of stream to be inundated by the two reservoirs represent
~ some of the hest trout habitat in the project area. The angler-days
currently supported by these two creeks (estimated at 50/mile) will
be lost, as will their potential use without special management--
~ currently estimated at 100 fisherman days/mile. However, the
operating plan for Savery Reservoir provides for a minimum instan-
taneous flow of 10 cfs. downstream from the Dolan Mesa Canal in
~ Savery Creek and into the Little Snake River. This guaranteed
minimum instantaneous flow will result in improved habitat conditions
in these stream reaches. These improved habitat conditions, together
~ with the increased fisherman use which may occur here, would partially
compensate for the stream fishery loss within the Savery Reservoir
area.

Both Savery and Rot Hook Reservoirs, though subject to severe drawdowns
annually, will provide "flat water" trout fisheries, albeit at the
~ expense of more desirable stream fisheries. However, the fishery
in each reservoir will have to be maintained through the periodic
