Y'
r .
Title: Colorado squawfish spawning temperature utilization curve.
Parameters: Mean daily water temperature (C )
Period: 1 Jul - 31 Aug
Location: Yampa River, Green River and Colorado River designated spawning
areas.
Data Utilized:
1. USGS Stateline gauge data for Colorado River.
2. CRFP grab and thermograph records for the Yampa and Green River
spawning sites taken during observed spawning activity.
3. Spawning dates were estimated by back calculating from larval
fish sizes for the Colorado River.
4. USGS Deerlodge Park gauge records.
Data excluded:
1. Incidental temperature grab sample records throughout the basin
at various times of the year.
2. Hatchery and laboratory spawning data because they have less
application in natural systems.
Assumptions:
1. Actual observations in the natural system during Colorado
squawfish spawning reflect suitable temperatures regimes.
2. The past four years have provided suitable temperatures for
spawning.
Constraints:
1. Curves applicable only for the spawning reaches for which they
have been developed.
Coordinates:
Colorado River
X (C ) Y (SI)
18 0.0
22 1.0
30 1.0
32 0.0
___ Absolute minimum 16 degrees C
Absolute maximum 32 degrees C
At least 14 days of 21 degrees C
Y
