Title: Humpback chub adult (greater than 200 mm TL) velocity
utilization curve.
Par-ameters: Mean water column velocity (cfs)
Period: Year around
Location: Designated areas of distribution for humpback chub in
the Colorado, Green and Yampa rivers.
Data utilized:
Colorado River RARE file mean water column velocity at point
of capture data, 1979-1983.
Data excluded:
Green River and Yampa River data due to limited sample size.
Assumptions:
~1. Mean column velocity measurements in the .vicinity of
adult humpback chub captures reflect velocity pre-
ferences.
2. Humpback chub velocity preferences in the Green and
Yampa Rivers are the same as in the Colorado River.
Constraints:
1. Curves apply only to deep canyon areas occupied by
humpback chub in the Colorado, Green and Yampa Rivers.
2. Great depths and variable water velocities inhabited by
humpback chub, may result in significant errors in
velocity measurements.
Curve coordinates:
X (ft/sec) Y (SI)
0.4 0.1
0.2 1.0
0.7 1.0
0.9 0.5
1.6 0.1
1.8 0.0
--
_~~_
