Title: Colorado squawfish spawning (deposition) velocity curve.
Parameters: Mean column velocity (cfs)
Period: 1 July - 31 August
Location: Yampa River RM 4-31.
Data utilized:
Modeled range of mean water column velocities at RM 16.4
(Cleopatra's Couch) on gravel/cobble when Colorado
squawfish are believed to spawn. The overlapping 50$ fre-
quency range at each observed discharge is selected as
optimum velocities for spawning (deposition).
Data excluded:
All mean water column velocity measurements collected at
capture sites and during radio tracking because these
measurements represent microhabitats that are not accurately
modeled by the hydraulic model for this reach.
Assumptions:
1. The range of mean velocities, that the model indicates
existed across the range of discharges from 1980-1984
when Colorado squawfish were congregated in the reach,
.represents the range of optimum velocities for Colorado
squawfish spawning (deposition).
2. Optimum velocities-were present during all years of
observation 1980-1984 for spawning (deposition).
3. Modeled velocities represent true velocities.
Constraints:
1. Curve is applicable to only the modeled spawning reach
at RM 16.4.
Curve coordinates:
X
f t/sec
0.05
1.6
1.9
5.1
7.0
Y
(SI)
0.0
0.75
1.0
1.0
0.0

-13-
