U-^ <br />~_ . <br />razorbacks continue to be observed in Labe Mead, Arizona-Ncv~.~da <br />(Cal Allen, Nevada Dc~partr:rent of t~lildlif_e [NDOaa], pers. common. ); <br />[~cCall 1980), lout the population is believed to be low,-with no <br />documented recruitrilen!~. <br />A situation si.rnilar to that in Senator i~raah Reservoir srerns <br />to prevail in Lake [Mohave (Hinckley 19f33; Paul Marstl, Arizona <br />State University [AS~I], pers. common.} where larval razorback have <br />commonly been found, but no recruitment occurs into the adult <br />population. Exotic f_i~hes, principally Ureen sunfish, prey <br />Heavily on razorback sucker recruitment. If_ this continues, <br />mortality of senescent razorbact~, adults vaill obviously result in <br />extinction of both the Mohave and Senator t9ash populations. <br />Collections in habitats other than reservoirs have- either <br />resulted in failure, or captured a few isolated individuals. For <br />example, one specimen has been ta'ren from the Di11 ~~illiams Arm of <br />Lake Havasu since 1973 (Hichaei_ Donahoo, USFti~]S, pers. comrtun.; <br />Hinckley 1979; CDFG, unpubl. data). One razorback sucker was <br />collected and another observed i.n the mouth of PaYia River, <br />Arizona, by Mirrckley and Carothers i-t 1979, and an adult r~zrori:sac}; <br />was taken by AGFD personnel (Ja7~nes Brook._s, AGED, p;,rs. corns.~un. } in <br />1954 frozerand Canyon n~~a.r Br_ ic~ht Anc3t~l Creek. <br />Razorback sucker. has not b~~Gn recorded in Nz~w P9~~~xico, <br />althouUll it must havo formerly occurr.ec~ in the San ,7uGn Ri~,y~~r and <br />pe,~h<~ps in the Gila t~.iv~r main:at~r-eam. <br />
