Abstract
Scams of Colorado squawfish can be analyzed if several scales are re-
moved from each fish to ensure that at least one scale is normal. Colorado
squawfish of Age VIII+ were dominant spawners in the Yampa River, 1982, and
also most abundant spawners in numbers in the Colorado River, 1976 to 1978.
Water levels and temperatures affected Colorado squawfish spawning in 1977.
Low numbers of mature Colorado squawfish were captured in 1982 that had been
spawned in 1977. Colorado squawfishs' relative growth decreased as the fish
grew older. Age VIII+ Colorado squawfish collected in the Yampa River ex-
hibited increased relative growth during their eighth year. Colorado River
specimens did not exhibit this phenomenon.
