39

all storage tat'gets throughout the year are met. Such aYtalysis carr be

made by examining the tabulations of Detailed Monthly Operatior,s found in

Section 3 of the Technical Report.

.10. The operation of the Taylor Park exchange does not significantly

change the results of Scenario 5. As expected, the operatioy. of this

exchange increased storage contents at Blue Mesa during some months and

resulted in additional releases above target totaling 45,372 acre feet

during the 1976-1978 period. These additional releases ar~ the debiting

of the UVWUA account at Blue Mesa so as to store extra water at Taylor

Park or to make storage releases to the Gunnison Tunrel resulted in lower

storage contents at Blue Mesa in other months. The minimum content at

Blue Mesa during the 1976-1978 period did drop from 129,021 to 95,494 acre

feet when the exchange was operated. It is unlikely, however, that

criteria for making Taylor Park releases under the excharrge assumed in

this study would be strictly applied durirlg such a critical pet'iod. The

formulation of Taylor Park release criteria which both meet the general

objectives of the exchange and best manage Blue Mesa storage cor.ter.ts

during a cri t ic:al period is beyorld the scope of this study.

WBLA, Inc. 1909 Broadway, #3, Boulder, Colorado 80302
