Studies bv the USACE, CDOW and USGS haue concluded that these dasns are
impeding fish movement on the Creek, resulting in reduced numbers of fish, including our target
species, the Arkansas darter (state threatened) and flathead chub (state species of concern). The Clear
Springs Ranch diversion dam ~vas given a high prioritv bv these agencies for a fish passage project
due to the abundance of fish at this location and the large drop structure height. The project ~vill
establish species swiinining perforinance data that will lead to first of its kind, design and
developinent of a plains fish passage. This work will be applicable to all future plains fish
passage projects.
