In preparation for the symposium CWCB is participating in a “Colorado Report.” It will explore current <br />practices, challenges, and opportunities for integrating land use planning and water supply planning in <br />Colorado. Research for this report is being conducted by Lyn Kathleen with the C enter for Systems <br />Integration. This research involves a survey of land use planners, water providers, decision - makers, and <br />other stakeholders; statutory research; and a compilation of examples from other states. (Eric Hecox) <br />st <br />COLORADO HEALTHY RIVERS FUND (CHRF) UPDATE <br />- <br />As of June 1 , 2009, CHRF <br />received $86,916 in donations through the Colorado Tax Checkoff Program. Th is is the first increase in <br />yearly donations since the fund’s inception in 2002. CHRF has not received this amount of money since <br />tax year 2004. The fund must receive $75,000 a year to remain in the Tax Checkoff Program. This <br />year’s earnings guarantee t he CHRF Grant Program for another year, and it will be on the State Income <br />Tax Return for tax year 2009. (Tom Browning) <br />FLOODPLAIN MAP MODERNIZATION/RISK MAP UPDATE - <br />FY09 projects: <br />Additional funding has been provided by FEMA to update floodplain mappi ng for the <br />Wild Horse/Dry Creek and Goodnight Arroyo based on the revised hydrology that will soon be approved <br />by FEMA as part of the Pueblo County DFIRM project. The total cost for this additional mapping is <br />$95,000 with FEMA providing 80 percent of the total amount and the remaining 20 percent from the <br />State and City of Pueblo. With this additional project, the total cost for the Pueblo County DFIRM is <br />approximately $1.1 million. <br />The Morgan County DFIRM is now underway with the total project cost at $3 03,970. The State is <br />contributing $25,000 and the local communities are contributing another $25,000 with the remaining <br />funds coming from FEMA. <br />The last project that has recently been approved for funding by FEMA so far this year is Prowers County. <br />Ther e are three levees to analyze in the county and the total DFIRM project cost is $767,629. The State <br />and the local communities have committed to providing 20 percent of this total amount and FEMA will <br />be providing the remaining $615,000. The project is se t to begin in late July 2009. <br />There is still FEMA funding available for scoping another county this summer for future DFIRM work. <br />The selection will be made from a priority list of counties in Colorado, which was provided in the 2009 <br />Business Plan Update submitted to FEMA in late 2008. The selected county will be based mainly on <br />available local level funding. <br />FY08 projects: <br />Work continues for Gunnison, Montrose, Elbert, and Rio Grande Counties. The base <br />mapping has been completed for Gunnison County. Fl oodplain redelineation is in progress and should be <br />completed by early fall. Montrose County is on track and the floodplain mapping task is almost <br />complete. Re - delineation for Rio Grande County is underway and the base map has been completed. <br />Elbert Coun ty base map has been completed and the floodplain mapping task is nearing completion. <br />6 <br />CWCB Director’s Report – July 21 - 22, 2009 – Crested Butte, CO <br /> <br />
