Over the past several years, CWCB, along with numer ous other organizations, has supported efforts to <br />convince Congress to increase funding to these critical USGS programs. If stream gage funding is not <br />increased, it will become increasingly difficult, if not impossible, for organizations such as the CWCB to <br />develop water policies and plans for the future. (Linda Bassi) <br />~STATEWIDE~ <br />GOVERNOR’S WATER AVAILABILITY TASK FORCE – <br />Since the last WATF meeting in <br />May, conditions have continued to improve statewide . The only region with continued dry conditions is <br />the southern Front Range. Reservoir storage remains strong. June 1 storage data shows the highest <br />positive departure from average volumes since late summer of 1999. For the first time in many <br />years, several basins are at or near their total storage capa city. The next WATF is scheduled for August <br />th <br />26 . (Taryn Hutchins - Cabibi) <br />WATER CONSERVATION PLANS APPROVED – <br />The Office of Water Conservation & <br />Drought Planning (OWCDP) has approved additional Water Co nservation Plans from water providers. <br />They include: <br />Parker Water and Sanitation District <br />City of Salida <br />North Weld County Water District <br />Town of Windsor <br />The OWCDP has determined the Plans to be in accordance with §37 - 60 - 126 C.R.S. and the CWCB’s <br />Gui delines for the Office to Review Water Conservation Plans Submitted by Covered Entities. Water <br />providers may proceed with implementation of their Plans. <br />The OWCDP has received and is evaluating and working with providers on the following Water <br />Conservati on Plans: <br />Pinery Water and Wastewater District <br />Consolidated Mutual Water Company <br />Widefield Water and Sanitation District <br />Town of Lamar <br />City of Steamboat and Mount Werner Water District <br />Castle Pines Metropolitan District <br />City of Lafayette <br />(Taryn Hutchin s - Cabibi ) <br />UPPER COLORADO RIVER ENDANGERED FISH RECOVERY PROGRAM: <br />MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND COORDINATED WATER RELEASES - <br />Here’s some <br />background on the coordinated release from six dams in the Upper Colorado River Basin designed to <br />provide an approximation of his torical spring streamflows to improve habitat for the endangered natives <br />in the river system, from Mark Jaffe writing for the Denver Post .
