53.4 acre feet ot'Windy Gap water (Catie No. 93CW288) in the Old Dillon Enlargement.
The Town ot' Silvenhorne ownti 11.87 acre leet of Valaer Ditch water rights (Change
Case No. 93CW288) that are also decreed for titorage in the Olci Dillon Enlargentent.
All the rights listed above are unior to Silverthorne's claimed RICD; however,
changes of water rights or new exchanges may be necessary to maximize thc uSe of the
Old Dillon Enlargement. Thc River Distrirt is concerned that Silverthorne's RIC'D could
interfere with the ahility of the Old Dillon Enlargement participants to obtain a rhange
decree or exrhange decree that allows maximum use of' thc water rights listed ahove to
meet existing and fureseeahle i'uture water ciemands.
Water Availabilitv:
The figure helow ~hows the t7ow of Straight Creek below Laskcy Gulch from
May I, 2004 to June IS'f' 2005, as well as the average for the period of rccord (18
years). This site is arproximately 1.8 rniles upstream from the confluence of Straight
Creek with the Blue River, essentially near the head of' the rropotied RICD. Straight
Creek and Salt Lick Gulrh are the only tributaries to the Blue River helow Dillc?n
Reservuir which would provide additional water to the Blue Rivcr beyond any releatieti
froiii DiUon Reservoir, and Straight Creek is the only tributary which is gaged.
'I'he graph tihows that the tlow in Straight Creek is normidly less than 10 rfs from
the first of Septemher to the 1-irst of May, with the only aprreciable runoff coming frcnn
mid-May to mid-July. Salt Lick Gulch, the tributary which would till Olcl Dillon
Reservuir, would have a similar hydrograph. A RI('D with an annual start date ot* May I,
even with a daytime anly call, could claim much of the hydrograph availahle during cven
average years, potentially precluding the use of this water by either the Town of Dillon or
other entities in Suntmit County.
USGS 09051050 STRAIGHT CR BLW LASKEY GULCH NR DILLON, CO
? ss.e ------------ ------ ----- ----- - --- ----
? `
?
