Can be natural or anthropogenic
Stressor StressOrS: Physical or chemical changes that are brought about by the
drivers, causing significant change in biological components, patterns, and
relationships in natural systems.
EcologiCal EffectS: Biological responses caused by the stressors.
Ecological
Effect
Attributes: A parsimonious subset of all potential biological elements or
components of natural systems that are representative of the overall ecological
Attribute conditions of the system. Attributes include populations, species, guilds,
communities, or processes, and are selected to represent the known or
hypothesized effects of the stressors and the efements of the systems that
have important human values.
PerFormance Measures: Specific features of the each attribute to be
Performance monitored to determine how well that attribute is responding to projects
Measure designed to correct the adverse effects of the stressors.
