Project No. 07-022.10
June 29, 2009
1313 Sherman St.
Room 721
Denver, CO 80203
ATTN: Ben Wade
''~`
RE: 50% Progress Report for Lamar Water Conservation Plan
Dear Ben:
2310 East Prospect
fort Collins, CO 80525
ph:970.484.7477
fa: 970.484.7488
www.tec-engrs.com
The City of Lamar has hired The Engineering Company (TEC) to complete a Water Conservation
Plan Update in accordance with State regulations following the Guidance Document produced by the
Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB). The Guidance Document outlines nine steps in the
water conservation planning process. We estimate that the water conservation plan was 50%
complete in January of 2008. By that date, we had completed portion of Steps 1, 2, 3, and 5. A large
portion of these items was completed during the 2007 Master Plan process.
In this Master Plan, the City's existing water supply (groundwater wells), existing treatment and
distribution systems, existing water usage, and the forecasted demands. and population were analyzed
and discussed. The water supply wells produce a surplus of water for the City. A conservative
population forecast of 0.3% was used, even though the City has experienced a decline of 0.4% in
population over the last five years. The maximum day water use per tap is an average of 0.33
gpm/tap for residential users and 5.22 gpm/tap for commercial and industrial users.
Sincerely,
rian Zic , E
President
The Engineering Company
