Totals 32,083 14,979 34,374 WY07 Carry-Over
* WY 2006 Carry-Over includes 314 af credited to the EA on 10-01-2006 as per CNPPID's FERC license.
The EA accrued 32,803 af of the Storable Natural Inflows during October through A.pril of
WY07. This accrual, combined with carry-over from WY06, minus evaporation and seepage
losses, resulted in a total EA volume of 140,974 af at the start of the WY07 irrigation season
(May 1 to Sept: 30).
Decreases in EA volume due to evaporation and seepage loss are become increasingly significant
as total reservoir level decreases and the EA volume becomes proportionally greater. For
example, the average EA evaparation and seepage loss for WY00 through WY04 averaged 7,106
af, or approximately 18% of the Storable Natural Inflows allocated to the EA. In WY05, WY06,
and WY07, total EA losses were 14,162 af, 19,282 af, and 14,979 af, respectively, (see Appendix
A, page 19), or approximately 44%, 55%, and 47% of the Storable Natural Inflows allocated to
the EA, respectively.
Water Year 2007 Platte River Flows and EA Releases
During the WY07 whooping crane fall migration period of October 1 to November 15, flows
averaged 369 cfs (median of 385 cfs) at Grand Island. During the WY07 spring whooping crane
. migration period of March 23 to May 10, flows averaged 1,650 cfs (median of 1,330 cfs) at
Grand Island. No EA releases were made during either migration period.
