ATTACHMENT 2
? BASELINE WATER YIELD BY NIAJOR RNER BASINS
Baseline water yield values for the Routt National Forest were developed using USGS gage
station information for watersheds which are/were relatively undisturbed during the period ot
record. All stations have at least ten years of record.
Average annual water yield per acre was regressed against weighted average annual precipitation
for the drainage area above each gage station. The resulting regression model was used to
estimate baseline water yield from each major river basin. The regression model has an R-square
= 0.87 and a standard error of 0.3 acre-feet. The average baseline water yield as well as the
range within one standard deviation is reported here.
Little Snake River basin: '
Average: 150,000 ac-ft
Range: 110,000 - 200,400 ac-ft
North Platte River basin:
Average: 340,000 ac-ft
Range: 240,000 - 440,000 ac-ft
Upper Colorado River basin:
Average: 300,000 ac-ft
; Range: 210,000 - 390,000 ac-ft
J
Yampa River basin:
Average: 810,000 ac-ft
Range: 570,000 - 1,060,000 ac-ft
Forest total:
Average: 1,600,000 ac-ft
Range: 1,100,000 - 2,100,000 ac-ft
?
9
