T2. Fledge Ratio for terns on existing habitats
1.2-
1-
0.8-
0.6-
0.4-
0.2-
0

?
0.7 FI e tio G al
c
m a a

? .?

? 0)
cu
c c
E

co
U)

? ?
m
a ?
? - ?.

3
0
J ? J J V U
The NAS report indicates the Platte River is a sink (p218) and tern populations are
actually better off if none nest on the Platte. If 0.70 fledge ratio is necessary for
population maintenance Lutey supports that contention. Need to insure that any
new habitat has fledge ratios which support population. NAS indicates need to
determine Platte populations with metapopulation.
Subgraphs likely apply to reproductive success as well as use but I did not
duplicate them and change y axis title. The above data could be used to predict
reproductive success it appears only predator management has desired effect as
no unmanaged habitats meet goals.
