We suggest the following management activities:
1. Mechanical removal of northern pike in all known Colorado Squawfish nursery and 1-yr old
habitat areas;
2. Additional bioenergetics studies on srnalimouth bass, channel catfish and green sunfish to
estimate the predation potential of these numerically dominant nonnative fishes;
3. Instiiuting a moratorium on stocking activities of Northern Pike within the Upper Colorado
River Basin;
4. Implementing studies aimed at determining specific sources of northern pike (and other
nonnative fish predators) within the system. Target areas include all reservoirs and small
impoundments/ponds within the floodplain.
