same year. Pettengill (1977) captured 26 roundtail chubs in the <br />Uinta River in July and August, 1975. Only two lengths (456 and <br />302 mm) were recorded. In 1976 Mullins reported capturing 141 <br />roundtail chubs (134 > 5 inches) 22 miles below the Duchesne River- <br />Rock Creek confluence. Additionally, 62 chubs (53 > 5 inches) were <br />sampled 1.5 miles below Myton {approx. RM 33.0) and 89 chubs (12 > <br />5 inches upstream from the Uinta River confluence. All of Mullan's <br />surveys used Cyanobrik in concentrations effective in killing carp. <br />Six species of exotic predator fishes have been documented in the <br />Duchesne River. In a cooperative state-tribal-federal effort, <br />smallmouth bass (Micro terus dolomieui) were first introduced to <br />the Duchesne River drainage in June 1970 (Mullan 1976). A total of <br />5,400 fingerling smallmouth were released into a three mile reach <br />of the Uinta River below the US Hwy 40 bridge. smallmouth bass. <br />have recently been stocked into Starvation Reservoir, Walleye <br />(Stizostedion vitreum) were introduced into Midview and Starvation <br />Reservoirs in the 1970,s (UDWR unpublished records). Green sunfish <br />(Lepomis cyanellus) were introduced to Utah nearly 100 years. ago <br />and have estabiished in many of the state's waters (Sigler 1963).. <br />Channel catfish (Ictaluras nunctatus) were likewise introduced to <br />Utah's waters prior to the turn of the century and are found <br />throughout the Green River basin (Sigler 1963). Both northern pike <br />(Esox lucius} and black crappie (Pomoxis n].Qramaculatus) are <br />present in the Duchesne River and likely .recruited from <br />introductions in tre state of Colorado.
