1980. The squawfish traveled upstream in the Duchesne River to RM
4.0 remaining in the Duchesne for about 30 days before returning to
the Green River and migrating upstream approximately 60 miles.
This same fish later ascended the White River in mid-July to RM 37
then returned to the Green River release area at the mouth of the
Duchesne River by late August.
Twenty-one additional captures of Colorado squawfish have been
recorded by endangered fishes researchers on the lower 2.6 miles of
the Duchesne River from 1978 through June 1986 (ISMP database).
Length, weight, and Carlin tag numbers corresponding to these
captures is reported in Table 2.
Three angler captures of Colorado squawfish in the Duchesne River
have been reported to UDWR (Table 3). A 4 1/2 to 5 lb.
squawfish was captured by an angler on 5/18/87 just above Myton,
Utah on the Duchesne River.
