Thanks also to the National
Park Service for permission to work in the Monument; it is a unique and special place.
We thank Ed Wick and Mike Carpenter for giving us our first tour of the study areas and
for their knowledgeable insights on physical processes in the Green and Yampa Rivers;
Ed's previous work in the system laid the foundation for this project and his enthusiasm
and advice were always welcome. John Bartholow, Franco Capel, Jeanette Carpenter,
Blair Hanna, Jim Henriksen, Bob Waltermire, and Jim Terrell all provided great help
with fieldwork in sometimes difficult conditions. Bob Waltermire and Jon Richards were
responsible for writing programs that greatly improved the efficiency of data reduction
work and Bob provided expert help with GIS questions. Peter Steffier authored the
hydraulic model used in this study and was always willing to help when we ran into
difficulty.
