A similar qualification can be placed on the <br />estimate of final preferendum. Giattina and Garton (1982) hypothe- <br />sized that final preferendum is species-specific but can be modified <br />by aye, food availability, season, or patholoyical condition. -The <br />combined results suggest that 25 C is the final preferendum and the <br />temperature for maximum growth rate of Colorado squawfish under opti- <br />mal conditions. Colorado squawfish should function well within a tem- <br />perature range of 20-30 C. In contrast, 35 C appears to be-the criti- <br />cal thermal maxima; zero growth would probably occur near that temper- <br />ature. Also, 15 C is not a favorable summer temperature for squawf- <br />ish.- ,Appetite and growth rate are greatly reduced and .senses-appear <br />dulled at that temperature. <br /> <br />
