Las Animas <br />Location: Near the town of Las Animas in Bent County. <br />Physical Structure: 13 ponds and 250 feet of raceways. Indoors: 6 nurse basin tanks and 6 <br />troughs <br />Water Source: Adobe Creek 3-4 cfs <br />Number of Personnel: 3 permanent FTE's (with some supervision provided by the Wray <br />Hatchery) and 10 months of temporary time <br />Species Reared: catfish, crappie, hybrid grass carp, northern pike, Sacramento perch, walleye, <br />white bass, yellow perch, and rainbow trout <br />Three Year Production Average: 559,000 warmwater fish at an average size of 1.93 inches <br />Operating Costs: $173,843 <br />Operating Cost per Inch Planted: $0.161 <br />Fish Health History: 1985 - "Ich"; 1986 - Costia and Bass tapeworm; 1987 - white grub <br />Current Health Status: Channel catfish virus disease (CCVD) <br />Wray <br />Location: Three miles east of the town of Wray in Yuma County. <br />Physical Structure: Hatchery building has 18 hatchery basins 17 circular tanks and 3 incubation <br />batteries for walleye eggs. The outside facility contains 27 rearing ponds and 13 raceways. <br />Water Source: hatchery spring averages 600 gpm and surface water (Chief Creek) which <br />averages 3-5 cfs <br />Number of Personnel: 4 permanent FTE's (supervisor is also responsible for overall supervision <br />of Las Animas Hatchery) and 12 months of temporary time <br />Species Reared: channel catfish, crappie, fathead minnows, hybrid grass carp, northern pike, <br />sunfish, tiger muskie, walleye, rainbow trout <br />Three Year Production Average: 26.8 million warmwater species averaging 0.29 inches <br />(NOTE: Wray is a major walleye hatching hatchery which is reflected in the small size of <br />the average fish planted) <br />Operating Costs: $280,368 <br />Operating Cost per Inch Planted: $0.037 <br />Fish Health History: 1982 - White grub; 1983 - Trichodina and Gyrodactylus; 1985 - Copepoda, <br />"Ich", Anchor worm, and bass tapeworm; 1986 - Chllodonella; 1987 - Costia; 1995 - <br />Henneguya <br />Current Health Status: Specific pathogen free <br />74 <br />I
