The State Land Board is working cooperatively <br />with the Owl Mountain Partnership and the Colorado Natural Areas Program, <br />mapping the rangeland and riparian condition and wetland communities on the <br />State Forest. This information will be integrated with existing resource and <br />infrastructure information into a GIS data base that was developed by the <br />College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University and will be used to <br />assist in the development of management strategies for the State Forest. The State <br />Land Board and the College of Natural Resources will continues to update the <br />GIS data base and provide land managers on the State Forest with training in the <br />application of GIS technologies in carrying out management responsibilities on <br />the Forest. <br />Brief history and present The State Land Board identified and invited approximately 90 stakeholders to <br />status participate in two scoping sessions focusing on issues of critical concern. <br />Information collected from the State Forest stakeholders is summarized in two <br />scoping reports, available on request. <br />Funding sources Project is proceeding with partial financial support from the State Board of Land <br />Commissioners, Colorado State Forest Service, Colorado Division of Wildlife, <br />and Colorado Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation.
