~ r ~ A <br />3 <br />of which were used to explain a changing native / non-native species <br />composition and compile species accounts to provide a more critical <br />analysis of the impact on the fish community. <br />While studying the fishes of the White River a second objective <br />became apparent due to the fact that the adult fish community was <br />found to be more diverse below Taylor Draw Dam than above the <br />reservoir before as well as after impoundment. To explain this <br />difference, selected habitat components and channel morphometrics were <br />analyzed and correlated to this intrinsic variation in fish species <br />diversity. <br />The final objective of this study was to elucidate general <br />movement patterns of White River fishes through a three year mark and <br />recapture study. Although five species of fish were tagged (Appendix <br />Table 4.6 and Appendix Figure 4.4), the flannelmouth sucker (Catostomus <br />latiQinnis) was the only species recaptured in sufficient numbers to <br />analyze. To determine if impoundment affected the average net <br />movements of flannelmouth suckers, values were compared for various <br />- length classes before and after completion of Taylor Draw Dam. <br />i <br />
