RESULTS <br />Reproduction and Early Life History <br />Westwater Canyon and adjacent river reaches were sampled for young of the year chubs and <br />sympatric species on 29 occasion (Appendix Table 3). The majority of the sampling occurred in <br />July and August of each year. Young of the year chubs were collected in all years of the study. . <br />Of the project total (n= 3216) the majority of those collected during the last year of study (1996; <br />n=1832) and fewest collected in 1995 (n=92). <br />Mean lengths of the Age 0 chubs were often larger upstream of Westwater Canyon than in the <br />canyon (Table 2). In 1996 ,canyon-collected young of the year were larger, and in 1995 there <br />were too few YOY collected on any one sampling date to make a reasonable comparison. The <br />variances about those means were significantly different (above vs within the canyon; F=1.49; <br />df=136)) in 1994, the lowest flow year experienced during this study. <br />Table 2.
