CONTINENTAL DIVIDE
possible, and inspected for the presence
of zebra mussels. Adult mussels are the
easiest to detect; however, live larvae
might also be present if a boat was
recently used in a contaminated area.
Any boat or vessel being transported
from a contaminated area should be
inspected to determine if it was recently
used and/or contains zebra mussels.
Means should be available to decontami-
nate boats, motors, and equipment that
might be suspect or found to be infested
with zebra mussels, thus inspection
stations should have personnel and
facilities for decontaminating any
suspect equipment or other vectors
capable of transmitting the zebra mussel
or larva. Marinas and boat launches
close to contaminated areas should also
have the capability to decontaminate
water craft entering from infected areas
of the country.
F/GORE 8.
