12 <br />Comparison with ISMP <br />The fall ISMP catch rates (CPE) for squawfish on the Colorado River were compared with the <br />nursery habitat catch rates in the 10 mile sections which overlap (Table 6). Because ISMP targets <br />the large, deep backwaters in order to maximise squawfish catch, we would expect higher CPE from <br />ISMP sampling, and indeed that was the case. The comparison revealed lower CPE overall in the NH <br />sections, in which all habitats were sampled. However, catch rates of ISMP and NH were highly <br />correlated. Catch rates for the upper section were consistently less than the lower section, in both <br />ISMP and nursery habitat. During ISMP sampling for 1992-1996, squawfish collections were <br />concentrated from RM 65 to 15, with the highest concentrations between RM 30 to 15. <br />.Table 6.
