' effects of construction and o eration of Flamin Gor a Dam in 1962 and effects of subse uent
p g g q
' changes in temperature and flow regimes. We also describe the longitudinal distribution of
fishes downstream of Flaming Gorge Dam during the period 1994-1996.. Changes in distribution
' and abundance of species with different thermal tolerances may indicate amelioration of effects
' of cold water releases in downstream reaches. We develop a water temperature model to predict
effects of proposed changes in discharge patterns intended to restore native fishes and ecosystem
' function in the regulated reach. Finally, we predict effects of future changes in dam operations
on the fish community downstream of Flaming Gorge Dam and recommend ways in which this
' regulated river reach can be better managed to contribute to recovery of endangered fishes in the
1 Green River system.

3
