ACKNOWLEDGMENTS Translating this book from an intriguing idea into reality could not have been possible without the support and inspiration of many people. I would like to thank all of the authors who found time in their already overcrowded schedules to contribute their ideas, insights, and expertise. They patiently stuck with the project through many drafts and revised timelines, and their time and energy has been much appreciated. I am also grateful to Barbara Dean at Island Press.
