Each plotted value is for an initial lot of 5-10 fish.
required is about 79.4 kw. An increase in pulse rate
to 25/sec would require 132.1 kw for 15 v/m.
This proposed fishing system could be developed
with off-the-shelf components now available (G.
McGee personal communication; C. Acknowledgment is extended
1613
to Dr W. F. Sigler and Dr R. Kramer for invaluable
assistance in the analysis of data.
I would also like to thank Messrs G. McGee and
R. Emerson of General Electric Corporation, Bay St.
Louis, Mississippi, for their engineering advice and for
updating of the pulse generator for this study. Messrs
D. A. Wickham, G. M. Russell, and R. S. Ford, Jr.
assisted in the collection of live specimens. I would
further like to acknowledge the assistance of Messrs
W. Seidel and F. J. Hightower who were able to maintain
electrical equipment in working condition.
BARY, B. M. 1956. The effect of electric fields on
marine fishes. N.Z. Def. Sci. Corps Nat.
