`~:.e stried bass were ra~-~~n th,.;~ any ether b._~eFish s~ec~-s. In
particular, Spring sampling }'fielded large nu-:hers of stripers ~~ith ~_kril being
the peak month. Few stripers were marked with Division of [;ildlife Resources
"spaoi~:etti" tags because of either net mortality or obvious sicns of net
stress. A list of all of the stripers collected can be found on Tables },-kII.
In all, nine gamefish species were sampled. The single lake trout taken was an
anomaly. This fish was in very poor condition and a probable migrant from
upstream, perhaps from one of the reservoirs comprising the ~ti'a}one Aspinal units
in Colorado. A summary of all the fish taken, by month, in 1984 can be found
in Tables III-IX.
Although we were unable to successfully track the razorback suckers, our
collections yielded valuable infomation on the status of both ,the razorback
sucker and Colorado squawfish in Lake Powell. In particular, the relativel}~
high numbers of adult squawfish collected was very unexpected. Future studies
may be recommended to further define the life history of both species within
Lake Powell and the probable interrelationship with major tributaries.
