•
the upland plateaus surrounding the valley to about 6,750 feet
msl at the stream level at the proposed dim site. Savery Creek
has a gradient of 40 feet per mile at the project site and has a
narrow flood plain which ranges from approximately 800 to 1000
feet in width. The canyon is approximately 900 feet deep.
Cottonwood trees 'are present in the valley bottom, with spruce
and fir trees at higher elevations on the valley sides.
3.06 The dam and reservoir would be located primarily on private
land. The Boyer Ranch is located immediately downstream of the
proposed dam site. A bridge across Savery Creek is located
approximately 0.5 miles further downstream.
3.07 The proposed project site has been previously investigated
by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation for the Savery-Pot Hook Project
(USDI, 1977). BAI (1980a and 1980b) included the proposed
reservoir site in a feasibility study and reported substantiating
information for the proposed project. SWEC (1984a and 1984b)
performed more detailed investigations and published the
Sandstone Dam and Reservoir Concept Design Report (SWEC, 1986a).
L`A PTT TTTCG
3.08 The proposed project would consist of a 200-foot-high
embankment and would store a total of 52,000 acre-feet for the
purpose of downstream irrigation, municipal, and industrial water
supply. The projects hydraulic works would consist of an
ungated chute type spillway on the left abutment and a regulated
low level tunnel outlet in the left abutment. The following is a
tabulation of project feature data as outlined in the Concept
Design Report (SWEC, 1986a).

3-3
