C
1 - SUAgMARY
1.01 The Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC) proposes to
construct a dam and reservoir on Savery Creek, a tributary of the
Little Snake River in south-central Wyoming for the purpose of
providing municipal, agricultural and industrial water supplies
for use in the Little Snake River basin. The proposed Sandstone
Reservoir would have a total storage capacity of 52,000 acre-feet
and an average yield of 32,000 acre-feet per year.
1.02 The WWDC has submitted an application for a Corps of
Engineers permit pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act
Amendments of 1,977, which regulate the discharge of dredged or
,fill material into waters of the United States. The Corps will
conduct a public interest review to help decide whether tp issue
the permit, issue the permit with conditions, or deny the permit.
The decision will be based on an evaluation of the probable
impacts, including cumulative impacts, of the proposed activity
and its intended use.
1.03 The following alternatives have been identified as
potential sources for a long-term water supply for the Little
Snake River basin.
o Sandstone Dam and Reservoir
o Upper Savery Dam and Reservoir
o Pot Hook Dam and Reservoir
o Fish Creek-Dam and Reservoir
o Development of ground water resources
o Water conservation
•
The no action alternative was also examined.
1-1
