The Mitten Park recorder was removed by agency personnel to avoid damage at high flows. The recorder at Ouray Wildlife Refuge performed poorly and was also removed during the peak discharge to avoid potential inundation. The recorder was re-installed during the recessional limb of the hydrograph and continued to perform poorly. The Canyonlands level logger brackets attached to the bedrock became loosened allowing the pipe to shift. The sandstone bedrock was relatively soft and the vibration of the pipe during the high flow caused the mounting bolts to loosen. Eventually a couple of the bolts dislodged and the pipe with the level logger shifted a foot or more. These shifts were noted in the data and adjustments were made to the reference level to account for the shift. 7
