.. <br />The Helley-Smith samples indicated that the sediment moving in the unmeasured zone <br />was essentially the same size as the sand bed material with a Dso equal to 0.5 mm. It was <br />previously discussed that the application of the Helley-Smith sampler on a river bed with dune <br />bed forms was inappropriate and the results should be considered as a poor estimate of the <br />unmeasured load. The sediment load being transported in the unmeasured zone was estimated <br />at 3,200 tons/day. This could be overestimated by 50%. Approximately 30% of the sand load <br />(unmeasured load) is being transported in the right channel at the spawning bar. It would be <br />reasonable to assume that about 25% of the discharge and sediment load occurs in the right <br />channel of the spawning bar for moderate to high discharges at cross section E-4. <br />30 <br />
