Habitat maps. for Colorado squawfish are based on distribution,
and only indirectly on habitat use. Colorado squawfish activities
may not reoccur at the same site each year, but do tend to reoccur
in the same general river reaches. Moreover, field data from the
upper basin is discriminated to only 0.1 mile. Most activity areas
will thus represent river reaches rather than specific sites.
Colorado squawfish habitats throughout the Upper Basin will be
mapped regardless of state boundaries as part of a cooperative
agreement between CDOW and USFWS.
The following activity areas for Colorado squawfish were
defined and identified by information presented in UCRBCC (1984).
WRIS habitat maps for the species will conform to this document
until an updated version is produced. These activity area types and
their definitions serve as bases for the CDOW maps:
